Text Message Consent and Privacy Policy

Our phone company requires us to post this message to you in plain language regarding our text messaging practices.

We are a very small business. If you give us your phone number and tell us we are allowed to communicate with you via text message, with either verbal or written confirmation, we may text you regarding appointments and non-medically sensitive information.

This means that an actual person, who actually works in the office, may text you appointment confirmations, check in with you about appointments, or share a link that may be helpful for your treatment.

You will be allowed to text us back. This can be helpful if you are running late for an appointment or need to reach us when we cannot pick up the phone. Our texting practices are professional, yet friendly, and are similar to how you might interact with a coworker via text.

Of course we do not sell your data, and we do not share your SMS consent, meaning we won’t give your phone number to some other business and say that they can text you just because you said that we could text you.

Because we are a medical office, this means that we have obligations to adhere to certain practices to keep your protected health information safe. To see those Privacy Practices (HIPAA), please click here.

We will not send you unsolicited marketing text messages. The frequency of messages we send you depends entirely on your preferences and scheduling needs. If you need help with our text message communications, or you would like to opt out of receiving text messages from us at any time, you can contact us via email, phone, web form, or text STOP at any time in our text thread.

The following legal language is also required:

1. Information we collect

When you opt in to receive SMS messages from Advanced Psychiatry & TMS Clinic, we may collect the following personal information:

  • Your mobile phone number

  • Your name

  • Any information you provide in your message responses

  • Message delivery and interaction data — timestamps, status, etc.

2. How we collect your information

We collect information directly from you when you provide it to our office staff via phone, email, SMS, or in-person.

3. How we use SMS information

We use your SMS data to:

  • Send scheduling-related messages

  • Respond to your inquiries or requests

  • Send messages relating to conversations we’ve had in our office. For example, if we get to talking about a TV show, we might share a link with you, as long as you give us consent.

4. Standard messaging and data rates may be applied by your phone service carrier.

5. Message Frequency

If you choose to opt in to receiving messages from us, we will most likely text you one or two times to send you information about your initial appointments. (We currently do not have an automated messaging service, so the message will come directly from a person in our office. You may ask at any time which person you are communicating with.)

After that, frequency of subsequent texts will depend on how often you text us.

5. Sharing your information

Advanced Psychiatry & TMS Clinic does not sell or share your SMS opt-in data with third parties for marketing purposes. SMS consent is not shared with third parties.

6. Your choices and rights

You can opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying “STOP” to any message. After you opt out, you will no longer receive text messages from us unless you opt in again.

To request access to or deletion of your SMS-related data, please contact us at frontdesk@advancedtmscda.com.

7. Data security and retention

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data. SMS data is retained only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined above or to comply with legal requirements.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this SMS privacy policy periodically. If we make material changes, we’ll notify you via SMS. Continued use of our SMS service indicates your acceptance of the revised policy.
